Lodge Events and Ceremonies

The Lodge has recently launched a new Ceremonies Support Team. If you are interested in joining, you should contact James. Ceremony team members have the option of either helping in the prep of ceremonies or being in them, depending on availability.
The Lodge Events and Ceremonies Committee is responsible for just that. They ensure that Lodge Events are properly planned and carried out. They work with Ceremony team members to ensure that our Lodge Ceremonies are their best. If you would like to be apart of this team, please contact the chairman listed below.

Lodge Ceremony Support Team

The ceremonies that this lodge performs are easily the best marketing aspect to its new members. It is crucial that they be top notch. The Ceremonies Support Team ensures that they are of best performance.

There are two sections to the Ceremonies Support Team:

Ceremonies Preparation Unit

The ceremonies support team completes the physical preparation to the ceremonies. You will also:

  • Learn how to build ceremonial fires
  • Prepare the ceremonial rings
  • Learn how to take care for ceremonial equipment
  • How to make reeds, gorgets, torches, etc.
  • Learn and use safe practices when handling dangerous materials and building fires
  • ·         Discover important lessons in leadership, teamwork, logistics, and time management.

Participants in the Ceremonies

Participating in the actual induction ceremonies is a great honor and responsibility. There are certain requirements that you must meet to perform in the Ceremonies. All youth lodge members may perform. You will be required to try out for your position. While participating you will develop:

  • Learn more about each character
  • Develop a greater meaning and appreciation for the Orders’ purpose.
  • Learn the proper dress, placement, and movements of OA ceremonies

It is hoped that eventually the ceremonies team will play a larger role in this area. By learning about the legends and traditions, it is possible to improve appreciation of the OA itself and its ceremonies, as well as achieve improvement of the ceremonies.

OA members interested in participating can be in one or both sections. If you are interested in being a part of the Ceremony Support Team, please contact Jesse or James.
